New Zealand’s Approach to Decrim: What, When, How
Tuesday, July 23, 2pm EST/11am PST
New Zealand is currently the country closest to full decriminalization of the sex trade, and pointed to for having some of the best health and safety indicators for people who trade sex. But far from having no laws which govern the industry, New Zealand’s model is an example of a robust set of laws which center the health, rights and safety of workers in the sex trade. Sienna Baskin, currently Director of the Anti-Trafficking Fund at NEO Philanthropy and past Director of the Sex Workers Project in New York, spent 3 months in New Zealand researching the Prostitution Reform Act (PRA). She documented its implementation and interviewed sex workers who pushed for this momentous change in policy. This upcoming webinar will share her research, and including her thoughts on what US-based advocates can learn from New Zealand. This will be the first of two webinars on the New Zealand’s PRA.
This webinar is open to everyone who works on the issue of sex workers rights and want to learn more. Please feel free to send to your networks!
